Representatives To Boys' And Girls' State Leave Here June 6
Four Lordsburg students Sherpi Hill Laura Yacano Vern Payne and Don McAllister will depart June 6 for New Mexico Boys and Girls State. Mrs Frank Winters will accompany them as a State Board member. The group will travel to Socorro for Boys State activities at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology then proceed to Albuquerque for Girls State at the University of New Mexico. The program includes city county and state government training culminating in a joint inaugural and grand ball with state guests.

Summer Shop To Start Next Week At High School
The summer shop program starts next Monday June 3 in the High School Shop with fields including Mechanical Drawing Woodwork Auto Mechanics Welding Ceramics Lapidary Jewelry Leatherwork Wood Carving and Finishing. Two daily sessions five nights weekly run 5 00 to 7 30 pm and 7 30 to 10 09 pm.
Lordsburg Cafe Opens Under New Management
Mr. Sam Basdakis of Tucson and Mr. Tom Prassas of Lordsburg become the new owners of the Lordsburg Cafe, purchasing it from Jim Paulos who had run the cafe for years. Basdakis brings 32 years in the restaurant trade and previously worked for George Kavathas at Raibo ad Cafe. Prassas is a long time local, having worked at the same location for eighteen years.

Kids Rodeo Set for June 20 at The Fair Grounds
A Kids Rodeo is scheduled at the Fair Grounds on June 20 at 6 00 p m with events including calf roping calf riding barrel race double mugging and ribbon roping. Eateries will serve youths from several New Mexico and Arizona counties and there is no entry fee. Admission is 75 cents for adults and 35 cents for children. Trophy awards include high point and first in each event.

City Softball League Plans Summer Schedule
City officials and sponsors from Banner Mine Community Public Service Paco National Guard and Harvey Hatch of Cotton City met at City Hall to outline a summer schedule. Five groups pledged teams and a fourth commissioner will be selected from Cotton City. The season opens Monday with two games at High School Athletic Field and a follow up meeting set for June 5 to finalize the schedule.

Traffic Accidents Reported Near Lordsburg Over Week
Several crashes were reported near Lordsburg in the past week by State Highway Patrolman Neil Moore. The first incident occurred around 10 15 p m Friday May 29 near Virden when a car driven by David C Jones 28 of Phoenix collided at an intersection with a northbound vehicle driven by Marvin Adams of Duncan. Both drivers sustained injuries though both cars were damaged.

Lordsburg Summer Play Program Opens June 8
Lordsburg Municipal Schools announce a summer program for school age youth running June 8 through July 31. Activities run 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 2 to 3:30 p.m. daily Monday to Friday with gym games and a four team junior high league. Scout Troops 120 and 128 field teams. volunteers sought as managers. Girls may tennis at 6:30 p.m. and a possible tournament is planned.

Senior and Junior Bands to Start Summer Program
The senior band meets for the first time this summer Wednesday at 7 p m on June 10. The junior band gathers Thursday evening June 11 at 7 o clock. Openings exist in both bands for bass horn. Interested students should contact Mr Brandt. Sixth grade or higher students seeking instrument lessons should contact the music department before June 12 to be placed on the schedule.
