The spring term at State Teach College Silver City closed on 29 Commencement exercises were held on Wednesday evening 27 J LaVar Lines of Virden Mexico who has been a student at the college during the past year having also attended during or sessions was granted the bachelor of science degree student elections held shortly after the close of school Miss Leola n of Virden was selected vice president of the senior class of 1936 A L Conner of Lordsburg elected as representative to the Council from the senior class of next year During the past Mr Conner has been business manager of the school publication Mustang which position he will continue to hold another year The summer session at State College will open on Monday June 8

Shirley Henslee, a thirteen year old pianist from Lordsburg, has a double curvature in her spine revealed by two X rays from Dr. De Moss. She will be taken to the Becorr Clinic next week and then possibly to a bone hospital in El Paso if advised. Her room is a bright green display of flowers from friends.

Former Mexican president Plutarco Elias Calles, his son-in-law P Torreblanca, and L N Morones stayed overnight in Lordsburg on Friday night. They traveled from San Diego to Oklahoma City with a chaffeur, expressing pleasure with Hidalgo Hotel hospitality. The party's informant described their cross country trip and enjoyment of the journey. Calles is noted as an outstanding war president and the "iron man" of Mexico.

City Advances Natural Gas Project For Lordsburg

Engineers Morrison and Fo met with the City Council and won unanimous approval to pursue PWA backing and a natural gas project. The plan includes a $42,000 government grant and a 4 percent government loan repaid from gas system revenues, not local taxes. Similar projects proceed in Las Cruces and Deming, with gas meter signups exceeding initial estimates. Silver City eyes private franchise routes.

College Girls Arrive on Noon Train from Missouri

Miss Mary Josephine DeMoss arrived from Stevens College Missouri on the noon train and will stay at home this summer before entering Stanford University next fall. Death of Harold Kostun Horgan of Tempe

Harold Kostun Horgan known as Burle died May 28 at his niece’s home in Tempe. Born November 9, 1879 in Lake Charles, he left a half brother D Imlay and sister A B Phillips and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Heather Mortuary with a Methodist pastor sermon and interment in Mountain View cemetery.
