Fishing Report Across Rio Grande Regions From John Shaul

The long weekend drew many anglers and campers with good weather. Elephant Butte saw a large crowd and plentiful catches including four anglers checked with multiple bags and several species. Reports cover Roberts Lake Bear Canyon Caballo Gila Turkey Creek Mogollon Willow Creek and additional ponds with stockings noted and varies in success across sites.

Potholes Completed In Cienega Area

The Las Cruces Bureau of Land Management reports four potholes blasted in the San Simon Cienega area 20 miles southwest of Lordsburg New Mexico. They were depth four feet covering one surface acre created as nesting habitat for the Mexican Duck with contractors Toe P Starr of Albuquerque. Additional work will follow under a later contract.
