Governor Bruce King accepts J C Robinsons resignation and appoints Ralph Ellinwood to finish the unexpired term. The move follows weeks of lobbying and prior consideration of Patricio Sanchez and Asa Kelly, with Sanchez continuing to press for a future challenge.
J C Robinson cites fulfilling his goals in the Attorney's Office and avoiding negative connotations. He says he enjoyed the experience and met many people who offered new insights, noting the young district attorney was given special assignments during his tenure.
Ellinwood, 35, from Deming, sworn in at 10 a.m. at the Grant County Courthouse as the new Sixth Judicial District district attorney replacing J.C. Robinson. Gov Bruce King announced the appointment at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday. Robinson to stay during transition and will help Ellinwood, who plans to name Dave Lane of Silver City as assistant DA.
