Summer pool opens in Lordsburg with city duty head
Lordsburg will open the municipal pool on Monday under Dick Rice Jr a New Mexico A&M student arriving Sunday morning. The FFA livestock team from Vird en led by Chester Jones Gerald Thyger eon and Vern Hateh won first place with Jones earning the top individual award. A surprise handkerchief shower honored Mrs. Paul Malott and Mrs. Edgar Malott who move to Durango Colorado at the First Methodist parsonage Wednesday night last week.

The Cade Wright residence in Animas hosted a large family reunion on Sunday May 18 as four sisters and three brothers who had not met in 45 years came together. Fay Powell celebrated a birthday with a supper dance for 24 guests at the Woman's Club building. Today's forecast showed a high of 94 and a low of 54.

Fire destroys bunk house and store room at Day ranch
Fire last week leveled the bunk house and store room on the Harry A. Day ranch damaging much of the contents including sugar. Improvements at the Up to Date stores include a 480 square foot addition to the grocery department and a vault added to protect the big safe.
