Proceedings recorded at the Hidalgo County Courthouse on July 7 1947 show the Board directing warrants from various funds for salaries and expenses including Treasurer Clerk Sheriff Assessor and related costs plus travel and court terms with Rachel Atkinson as Clerk of Board.
In recent games Banner Mine defeated Moctezuma the Veterans beat the Plumbers and Leo s defeated the El Paso Natural Gas team. The El Paso Natural Gas Co is moving its camp from Bowie tonight s game of the company to withdraw.
The schedule lists Banner Mine versus Leo's on Monday and again on Wednesday Veterans meet Banner Mine. Tuesday features Leo's against Plumbers with preliminary games Monday at 6 00 Redskins versus Thunderbolts at 7 08 and Indies against S Hawks. The Tuesday pairing ends with Kittens versus.
Employees of the Community Public Service company enjoyed a Monday evening picnic on the lawn at the power plant. The attendees included Mr and Mrs Elbert and Marise, Mr and Mrs J R.
Thunderbolts host a 7:00 game with the Redskins then a Wednesday 6:00 tip between Redskins and Kittens and a 7:00 Ghosts matchup.
The Business and Professional Women held their annual July get together and business meeting at the Cureton ranch north of town. About forty members and guests enjoyed a picnic supper and a business session in the Cureton home, with committees named for the coming year and plans for conventions noted by State President Emma Field.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Steele, and Mr. and Mrs. John Bradford hosted a Sunday picnic and fish fry at Wood Canyon at 5 pm. Attendees included Mrs. Frank Davidson and sons, Mrs. E. C. Bowman, Freeman McWhorter, B. M Kimbley, W. C. Musgrove and family, Susan, Mildred Townsend, Billy and Karen Steeley, Betty Bradford, Bettine and James Taylor, and other hosts.
The Yucca Zone of the Woman's Society of Christian Service including Deming Silver City Hatch Hot Springs Socorro and Lordsburg met in Silver City on July 10. A helpful program was presented by zone members and a pot luck dinner was held in the church basement at noon hosted by Silver City ladies led by Mrs Isaac Van Meter president.
Several members were out of town for the Wednesday Bridge Club meeting including Mrs Bar Gam, Mrs E Kerr, Mrs N A Mon, and Mrs Winters, with Allen noted among those present.

Beginning July 15 1947 a notary fee of fifty cents will be charged for each motor vehicle application under the legislative amendment to Section 11 123 of New Mexico Statutes.
The Methodist Church will conduct a vacation church school from Monday July 21 through Friday July 25. Classes start daily at 9:00 AM and end at 11:00 AM followed by a picnic on Friday. The program blends study and play for participating boys and girls.
The City of Lords burg will spray all trash barrels and outhouses with DDT at no charge this week. Superintendent S H Gass announced the program as part of municipal pest control efforts.
