Local Man Injured In Head-On Collision
Willie Anaya age 34 of Lordsburg and his passenger D M Heredia were seriously injured in a head on collision on July 11 near Hurley. The Roche vehicle from Las Cruces driven by W P Roche caused the crash and several of its nine occupants also sustained serious injuries.

Lordsburg Residents Naturalized in Deming Ceremony
Two Lordsburg residents, William Jaw Woo from China and Altagracia Solano Hernandez from Mexico, joined six new American citizens Saturday in Deming. District Judge H. Vearle Payne oversaw the naturalization in Luna County Court House and awarded each new citizen a 49 star flag as a memento of the event.

4H County Elimination Contests Held at Lordsburg High
Fifty three registered for the 4 H elimination at Lordsburg High School with Charles Mc Carty presiding. Pledge led by Dorothy Huston and 4 H songs by Linda Kynaston and Sandra Hatch opened the day. Demonstrations covered clothing foods and livestock topics with blue and red ribbons awarded to 4 H members from Virden Animas and Lordsburg. Senior Dress Revue awarded blue ribbons for work outfits and dresses while home living winners received blue and red ribbons.
