State Gets Murder Conviction on 2000th Shakespeare Ghost Town Tour
Shakespeare Ghost Town celebrated its 2000th visitor during a June 28 tour to Arizona and New Mexico. Attendance at Shakespeare rose this year with 1987 figures at 1201 by June end and 2014 by late June this year. District Attorney Michael J. Lewis announced that Casimiro Casey L. Aragon was convicted of First Degree Murder and Aggravated Burglary by a Luna County jury on June 29. Aragon, 62, killed Rufina Mendoza of Deming on July 25, 1986, at 8:30 p.m. The jury of seven women and five men deliberated 30 minutes. The trial began June 27, 1988, and lasted three days.

Cover Charge For Christian Home Proposed In Lordsburg
I E Shahan of Best Western and Nugget Lounge offered to donate a one dollar cover charge from July entertainment to Lordsburg s Christian Home. Home representatives said the aid has helped about 9000 transients this year and requested a gas fund to aid fuel for travelers. Pettit noted growing need as more women and children seek help and the six staff work without pay.
