4th of July Picnic and Barbeque by Knights of Pythias

The Knights of Pythias sponsor the annual 4th of July picnic and barbeque at Wood Canyon. Dokks donate meat, Knights provide rest of food. Lunch served at one o clock to lodge members families and friends. Afternoon games entertainment and children's races with prizes.

Returns After Attending Regional Conference

Mrs. H. E. Scofield state president of B P W clubs of New Mexico returned from Albuquerque where she attended a regional conference June 22 to 24 involving Wyoming Arizona Colorado Nebraska and New Mexico. Principal speakers included Kay Frances Scott and Geneva McQuarters with Maude Doyle also present. The gathering featured talks on legislation programs and membership and a luncheon by the Nebraska and Wyoming delegation.

Moctezuma Club Tops Plumbers In High-Scoring Softball

On Wednesday June 25 Moctezuma Club beat the Plumbers 31 to 23 as 54 total runs were tallied. Earlier Monday Pipe Liners defeated Veterans 15 to 11 in a close game. Showers cleared the crowd before Tuesday night’s Plumbers versus Moctezuma contest and next week’s schedule lists matches for Veterans Leo’s Plumbers and a set of preliminary games across two nights.

Rainbow girls officers and visitors tour Mountainair

Mrs. Emma Muir and Mrs. Mary D. Kipp returned from Raton where they attended the Grand Assembly of the Order of Rainbow for Girls. Kipp serves on the executive board and accompanied the Worthy Grand Matron Mrs. Wallie Shape on her official visit to Mountainair. Also present was Mrs. Elsie Aspinwall, Grand Worthy Associate Matron.

State Wide Assembly Held by Methodist

The Methodist Church in New Mexico hosted its annual Young People’s Assembly in the Sacramento Mountains. Ten attendees from Lordsburg Church included John Kipp Kay Jeffus Allen Johnson Marise Coursey Pat Cory Marilyn Kuykendall Arabella Hill Patsy Batts La Verne Scott Jacquelyn Turrentine. Sponsors Rev. and Mrs. Paul Hively accompanied the group.

Wiesner to Visit Lordsburg Airport for Airman Certificates

Ralph E Wiesner inspector with the Civil Aeronautics Administration will be at Lordsburg Municipal Airport all day Tuesday July 1 to handle airman certificate matters. Local pilots may see him without an appointment. This is his first stop in three months and future visits are not scheduled.

Boy Scouts Enjoy Two Day Round Mountain Outing

Troop No. 120 of the Boy Scouts spent a two day outing at Round Mountain this week. Participants included Jack Cochran, Dick Rice, Dale Allen, Oscar Turntine, Edward Clouts and Billy Steele. Eldon Taylor provided transportation for the group led by Scout Master G. H. Dorsett.

Rainbow for Girls Attend 14th Grand Assembly in Raton

Miss Barbara Anne Parker and Miss Mary Sue DeVilbiss with Mrs. Alvin Parker traveled to Raton New Mexico for the 14th annual Grand Assembly of the Order of Rainbow for Girls. Miss Mabel Brown Grand Chaplain joined by Mrs Rex Kipp and Mrs Emma Muir attended and all three participated. Mrs Kipp was re appointed to the State Executive Board and Miss Brown named Grand Page for the year.

Masons hold large outdoor meeting near Faywood Hot Springs

Five hundred thirty two Masons gathered at the City of Rocks near Faywood Hot Springs for an outdoor meeting and barbeque. Lodges from Silver City Hurley Santa Rita Tyrone Deming Lordsburg participated with members from Texas New Mexico and Arizona. Past Grand Master of Texas John Temple Rice attended as a guest. Fifteen Lordsburg members attended.
