Lodger's tax reporting sheets approved by chamber
The Lordsburg Hidalgo County Chamber of Commerce approved a separate monthly reporting sheet for Lodger's Tax receipts and payments due to higher fund use from a radio campaign. The board discussed reviving the Historical Society and a county museum, accepted J R Altuna's resignation, and considered charging $2.50 for out of state member lists. Two Arrested For Burglary in Lordsburg
Billy E Turner 23 and Raymond Valdez Jr 18, both of Lordsburg, are jailed in Hidalgo County on 10 000 bond each. They face one count larceny and one count burglary for a break in at the E J Short Warehouse during the weekend of June 18 19. Police Chief Bob Hall with Undersheriff Eugene Moore led the arrest after warrants. The case remains under investigation and not all stolen property has been recovered.

The Court of Appeals reversed Kathleen Ruud's conviction for possession of more than eight ounces of marijuana after ruling a hunch cannot justify stopping a motorist.
