Lordsburg and Hidalgo county lose a fine citizen with the death of W B Conner on January 20 in Lordsburg New Mexico. Funeral at Heather Funeral Home with a Church of Christ sermon by Brimberry. Survivors include eight children and many grandchildren. He moved to the area in 1882 and worked as freighter and rancher before retiring in 1920.

Car shipment boosts 1939 models stock at Montague Townsend

Doctor Springer Returns from Vacation With Rattlesnake Skin

He drew attention by showing a six foot rattlesnake skin and claiming the snake weighed 35 pounds and was served as part of a camp meal. President George H. Cureton convened the board at the courthouse to map the fall fair for September 20 or 28 pending scheduling. County Agent Harlan Jack named general manager and will appoint department superintendents. The association will incorporate under New Mexico law with Attorney Thomas R. Taggart handling filings. Claude Sanders, Aarlan Mack and Sherwood Culberson named to a constitution committee. Engineers reviewed blueprints with minor changes. Cureton started the subscription list with strong support from stockmen. Committees will operate under Hill Davie and Joe Parker of Animas on the finance panel. Attendees included Cureton, County Agent Black, Royal of Grant County, Thygerson, Bishop Payne of Virden, and others. The group praised county officials and Lordsburg residents for enabling the fair grounds purchase west of the high school stadium.
