Mrs Stella Egon Announces Run for State Legislature

Mrs Stella Egon, who nearly won the State Representative nomination, launches her bid for the legislature this year. Lordsburg Lions Plan Carnival and Church Visit

Lordsburg Lions Club held a Tuesday noon meeting with President Augustine presiding. Members praised Lion Hall for the Sunday worship service at the Methodist church and agreed on committee heads for carnival events. A tentative February 26 carnival date was set and a Cincinnati Travel Bureau card noted Lordsburg as a stop for Ohio tourists. Lions circulated a telegram urging twenty five cent signatures for the infantile paralysis fund.

Lordsburg On Parade to Be Featured in Movies

C. J. Hayes of the Manche Screen Service announced Lordsburg will be filmed as a talking color movie. Mrs. S. B. Allen of the Palace Theatre will oversee sets with help from the Chamber of Commerce and local organizations. Production will begin with a local survey and on location street scenes, then move to Dallas for further city features.

Oldest Inhabitant Puts First Gas In Home

Mrs. Sarah Simpson Lordsburg’s oldest resident, turning 82 in July, installed natural gas with Government Inspector Gaines approving the hookup. Penningtons Wholesale House Now Operating

The Pennington wholesale house on East Railroad Avenue is now in full operation with H. W. Pennington and Ed Johnson in charge. The 60 by 80 foot building includes a half-story 30 by 80 and a 10 by 14 coal bin, with a Southern Pacific freight track beside the rear and front delivery chutes enabling under cover loading. The Penningtons also run wholesale and retail stores in nine other cities and towns in the region.
