Birthday Ball Plans Loom For Lordsburg Events In Hidalgo County

Eugene Montagu named general chair as the Presidential Ball committee schedules two dances Old-Time at Knight of Pythias hall and modern at Palador Pavilion. A Lordsburg Central school basketball game and a Palace Theatre party are planned with committees to finalize details. Additional communities Virden Rodeo and Animas will host joint and separate celebrations ahead of the 29th.

Ed Borein recalls a published unpublished tale of Will Rogers and Col. Lindbergh during a west coast visit. A crowd greeted Lindbergh as he landed at Loa Angelon and Rogers arranged a private landing to avoid the mob. Lordsburg District Court Handles Romero Appeal

District Judge George W. Hay and District Attorney Joseph W. Hodges closed a semi monthly term in Lordsburg. They reviewed matters including Jesus Romero's appeal to the New Mexico Supreme Court, with Romero detained in the state penitentiary awaiting ruling. Hodges prosecuted Antonio Rascon in a preliminary hearing before Justice of the Peace C W Marsalis, binding Rascon over to the spring term on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon against Louisa Apadeca on Christmas morning.

Richardson Wins First in Hidalgo 4-H Records

Friday afternoon at four o clock a son was born to Superintendent J Cloyd Miller and his wife at Lordsburg hospital weighing 6 pounds 2 1 2 ounces. Grandfather C Frank Meyer traveled from Las Cruces to meet the first grandchild as the community rejoices. The baby will be named J Cloyd Miller II with the surname Meyer noted among relatives who visited.

VFW Officers Visit to Promote Posts in Silver City Lordsburg

Carlisle mining district shows renewed activity near Lordsburg

George F. Utter of Silver City and Long Beach notes increased mining in the Carlisle district northeast of Lordsburg once famous for Herbert Hoover. He says several mine groups controlled by the Otter heirs ship gold silver ore to the Miami Arizona smelter and even old dumps are being processed with modern smelting methods. The Utter interests hold long patented claims and SW mining men expect rich ore in the Carlisle district.

Mrs KR Bonar hosted the F E Club gathering on Wednesday afternoon. An artistically arranged pineapple salad with jelly and date centers resembled petals around pineapple rounds, served with hot cinnamon rolls and tea.
