Land exchange finalized in Hidalgo County after year and a half
Las Cruces BLM district manager H James Fox signed the patent deed transferring 175 acres on Las Cruces East Mesa to Joe and Melba Jackson of Animas New Mexico in exchange for 6365 acres in Peloncillo Mountain near Rodeo. The swap increases public lands habitat for Desert Big Horn Sheep and other wildlife and improves access for hunters. George Jackson Jr of Gila Realty handled the transaction.

Thirty two girls and boys from Animas and Lordsburg competed in the Hidalgo County Elks Hoop Shoot. The county championship will be held at Animas High School Gym on Saturday January 21 at 10 am.
