At the 1989 Hidago County Commission meeting bids for the base Playas Road were tabled while the county plans to seek further funds from the legislature to cover completion costs. Two California Men Struck Down on I 10

Two California men walking on Interstate 10 in Grant County were killed early Monday while a third man escaped injury. Victims Teofillo Reyes and Efren Mendez, ages 26 and 28, were struck by a car driven by Luther Washington of Los Angeles. Washington faced charges of careless driving two vehicular homicides and failing to give immediate notice. He was arraigned, a $1,000 bond set, and he was reportedly returned from Arizona to Hidalgo County jail.

Lordsburg High School Seeks Seat Belt Takeup

Dana Arredondo reports the Lordsburg Student Council runs a seat belt campaign using The Convincer, a demonstration machine shown to seniors and younger students by public health officials from Lordsburg and Las Cruces. Lordsburg approves Brunswick lanes at Special Events Center

The City of Lordsburg approved Brunswick Bowling and Billards Corporation to build lanes at the Special Events Center at a cost of 172675 dollars. The move accompanies other bids and plans for local infrastructure and tax policy changes.

Fire scene misdiagnosed weed burn response in Glen Acres

It was determined to be a weed burn under control, highlighting the need to avoid nonemergency crowding and ensure swift aid in real emergencies.
