Lordsburgs school board on January 10 rejected all bids for the new high school project as bids far exceeded the available funds. Three bids for the complete building ranged from 575,906 to 648,500. Alternates reduced scope with bids listed for partial structures, but none met budget.

Missing in Action: Lt Richard Coke on Korean Front
Colonel and Mrs Bruner Coke report their son Lieutenant Richard Coke 24 is missing in action since November 28 on the Korean war front. He served as a combat reconnaissance intelligence officer with List Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, stationed near the Sowan Reservoir. He previously trained at Fort Riley and sailed from San Francisco in 1948.

The Chamber of Commerce elected R R Myers of the Myers Motel as president and Al ton A Powell of the Hidalgo Garage as vice president with R B Ownby named secretary treasurer for the year. No committees were appointed and the group discussed promoting house numbers, street cleaning, hospital funding, courthouse square care, and boosting Lordsburg tourism.
