New Mexicans are urged to include an HIV test in 1993 resolutions. Free anonymous testing is offered at public health offices with pre and post-test counseling, and results within two weeks. HIV infection estimates run 2,000 to 3,000 in the state, with 556 AIDS cases through 1992 and 352 deaths.
The New Mexico Coalition Against DWI sponsors a petition supporting Attorney General Tom Udall s DWI prevention legislative package. Udall released his DWI Action Plan after 18 months and 16 town halls drawing input from 500 New Mexicans. Julian Atencio of Espanola Ambulance Service leads the petition with aid from the Attorney General s office.
The January meeting of the Parent Advisory Council is set for Wednesday January 20 1993. It will be held in Lordsburg High School Library at 7 00 pm. All parents of school age children are invited to attend.
The Lordsburg Motor Vehicle Office will close January 18 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It opens January 19 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon and 1:30 to 4:30 PM. January 20 offers a half day from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon. January 21 and 22 are closed for a MVD seminar in Albuquerque.
Hidalgo County Assessor Robert Kerr reminds all veterans to bring their tax exempt certificate to be updated. Lordsburg Liberal and Pyramid Printing announce normal Monday business hours opening.
