Lordsburg New Mexico January 2 1990 board voted 5 to 0 to renew Phil DeFoor as superintendent for two years with all members Estrada Lowrey Culberson Williams and Placencia supporting. The meeting also approved coaching evaluations and a policy change crediting out of district experience while delaying a grievance policy.

North of Steins, mining equipment from an Arizona firm including a Lincoln Welder and tools disappeared between Christmas and New Year. Rewards are offered. The sheriff will attend a governor’s drug task force meeting in Las Cruces and discusses potential deputy expansion in Deming with federal authorities.
Five candidates filed for mayor of Lordsburg on the first filing day. Virgil Widby led the slate, followed by incumbent Clark Smith Salvador Diaz Jr Robert Macafee and Mac McPherson. Municipal judge contenders are Mary Hazard Esperanza Tarango and Baltazar Salinas. Election set for Tuesday March 6.
