Hidalgo County Considers Quarter-Percent Gross Receipts Tax
Hidalgo County Commissioners will discuss a one quarter percent gross receipts tax at their February meeting. One eighth funds indigent care including ambulance and primary medical services. the other eighth goes to the General Fund for items such as solid waste regulation. The tax affects purchases outside Lordsburg city limits and keeps all revenue in the county. Estimated revenue is about $57,000 per eighth, and more information is available from County Manager Tom Anderson ahead of the February 13 meeting.
