Eight candidates filed for three Lordsburg Municipal School District Board of Education seats in an election set for Tuesday February 4. Incumbent Ralph Burton faces no challenger for Position One, while Position Two has three other hopefuls including Rev Marion E Stevens Loyd G Reed and Olivia A Ramirez. Missionary to Speak at First Baptist Church
Rey Don Richards a Brazilian missionary will speak at First Baptist Church on Sunday January 12. A native of El Paso and son of Mrs Autry Harp of Lordsburg he trained at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and has served as a missionary since 1959. The Crusade of the Americas planned by Baptist Churches across the Americas will climax in April 1969 with Richards playing a key role. The public is invited to the 11 am service.

Man Killed In Fall From Train West Of Gary
The body of Gerald Martin Dunlap 41 of Lubbock Texas was found about 10 am by a Southern Pacific work crew near the railroad tracks a mile west of Gary. Investigators said he fell from an eastbound train and dragged beneath the cars for about 100 yards before the body lay on the north side. Sheriff Leroy McCarty and coroner Dr J H Baxter said he had shipped his suitcase by bus from Tucson to Artesia the previous evening and identification came from papers found in a wallet and shirt pockets. A small amount of money was also recovered. The body was sent to Lubbock Wednesday by Heather Mortuary.

NMSU Students Track Satellites Under Navy Contract
David Baker and 26 fellow students at New Mexico State University join a five and a half year program blending campus study with engineering work at the Physical Science Laboratory. They work on tracking satellites named Surinerma and Seychelles, and also from Alaska to the Philippines. The lab holds a U.S. Navy contract to track GEOS and other satellites studying the earth’s gravitational field and mapping the globe.

Lordsburg Board Advances School Bond Issue Plan
