Capital lawmaker says add 10 million to reserve. reapportionment looms

Aliens Required To Report Addresses In January

Howard L. Adams of the Immigration and Naturalization Service in El Paso reminds non citizens to file the annual Alien Address Report during January. Reports are available at INS offices and post offices, with help from trained staff and a volunteer group at the El Paso main post office. Forms are simple to complete. guardians file for children under 14 and ill aliens may arrange assistance via a friend or relative.

Bishop Lumber Office Break-In Stuns Town

A burglar broke into H. Bishop Lumber Co. during lunch hour on Thursday December 30, stealing about $500 in cash and some checks. Entry was via a broken rear door glass. the shop was unattended as the Bishops were in Colorado. A neighbor saw a man leaving and furnished a vague description as deputies investigate.

State Withholding Tables Not Issued This Month

Bureau of Revenue officials announce no new state withholding tables this month. The January 1 1971 tables stay in effect until further notice. Federal tables issued for wages after January 15 1972 may require adjustments to meet 1972 tax liability estimates.

Winter Band Concert Scheduled January 20 1972 Lordsburg

Lordsburg High School and Middle School bands will perform a winter concert Thursday January 20 1972 at the Dugan Tarango Middle School gym. The high school band has 53 musicians and recent honors include a sixth place at New Mexico State University Homecoming parade and a first place at Truth or Consequences Fiesta Days. The middle school band now has about 65 members across grades six to eight. Admission is free at 7 30 P M.

Highway Dept Seeks Bids on Local Roadwork Projects

The State Highway Dept will open bids January 21 for two projects including a Lordsburg site. The Inter state 10 work requires rerouting railroad lines with grade drain subbase and several bridges. The project spans about 0.566 miles with an estimated cost of 550000 dollars.

Mavericks Fourth in Eastern Arizona Junior College Tourney

Lordsburg Mavericks placed fourth in a Thatcher hosted event. They opened with a 63-37 win over Sahuarita Mustangs, led by Joaquin Marquez with 20 points and 11 rebounds. They then lost 65-52 to Thatcher Eagles and 69-54 to Clifton Trojans in the third-place game. Cureton scored 17 in the finale. Marquez and Cureton earned tourney spots with solid showings.

USDA Plans January 1972 Survey Of Planting Intentions

The U S Department of Agriculture will survey 275 000 farmers nationwide and about 3 800 in New Mexico to gauge 1972 plans for corn winter wheat barley sorghum hay and cotton. State estimates will be released January 27. The survey is a supplementary early look, not a replacement for March reports.
