Highway Officials Confer Youths Held in With Commissioners

Highway officials and county leaders discussed an overall county road plan for the Animas Highway and potential route changes to serve more people. Youth arrests for housebreakings were reported, with eight teens charged and their parents set to answer in district court. most loot recovered. Weather noted heavy rain in Lordsburg, followed by snow and crop damages in Aziz and Calif.

Christmas Street Lighting Fund Contributors List

A partial list shows community and business gifts totaling 256.35 for the Chamber of Commerce Xmas street lighting project. Veterans Representative Visit to Lordsburg on January 12

Marston Reed from the Veterans Administration will visit the Hidalgo Hotel lobby in Lordsburg on Wednesday January 12 from 10 30 p m to 2 30 p m. Veterans and dependents of Lordsburg and nearby areas are invited to call for information or assistance with veterans benefits.

Navy Club Exhibit Shows Japanese One Man Submarine Death Ship

The Navy Club of the U S A will display a captured Japanese Koryu one man death by own action submarine in Lordsburg at the S P station Friday January 7. Public viewing runs 9 30 a m to 9 30 p m with no charge but voluntary donations welcomed to support welfare and rehabilitation programs. The sub 20 feet long uses storage batteries and carries 1800 pounds of high explosives for the suicide mission. The tour includes the belt of a thousand stitches and a collection of Allied and Nazi rifles. Sailor and veteran groups are urged to register after the exhibit visit.

Famed Girls Basketball Team Here January 19

The famous Red Heads an all girls basketball team will meet the Lordsburg Lions Club All Stars on January 19 at 8 in the high school gym. The Red Heads play men s teams and follow men s rules. Coach Orwell Moore a famed Arkansas coach and star athlete leads the team.

Community Hymn Sing Draws 50 Plus From Three Churches

More than fifty attended the Community Hymn Sing at the Assembly of God church despite cold and snow. Mrs. R. S. Bubb conducted the gathering as three churches answered the roll. Mr. and Mrs. Kerman Leisti Kow offered a special number from the Baptist church. Ruth Esther Wilhite and her mother sang a duet with Whitley at the piano. The next gathering is planned for February 6 at the First Baptist church with each church to provide a special number.
