Lordsburg Chamber Publishes Descriptive Business Folder

The Lordsburg Chamber of Commerce has printed a descriptive folder about Lordsburg Hidalgo County and nearby valleys. It includes notes on mills cattle ranching views of buildings and aims to distribute thousands of copies nationally to chambers hotels and tourist bureaus across the West.

Fuller and Miss Littlefield wed in Palo Alto ceremony

Mrs. Mary V. Littlefield of Palo Alto Calif. and Warren Phillips Fuller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude D. Fuller, were married December 29. Fuller, a Lordsburg native with a geology master's from the University of Texas class of 1940, and Miss Littlefield, a Sanford University political science teacher who earned a doctor’s degree in International Law, plan to live in Chicago after a Mexican honeymoon and a stop in the southern states.

Father Kennelly Installed as Priest at St Joseph’s Lordsburg

The Reverend David F. Kennelly S C J has been appointed the El Paso Diocese priest at St. Joseph Church in Lordsburg. He comes from New York City with prior service in banks and trust firms and recent assignments in Indiana and Fort Indiana before his move to Lordsburg.

Youthful house breakers face probation after judge's lenient ruling

Eight youths, with family present, were tried before Judge Marshall for multiple entries at homes and a store. One leader received a suspended year in the state reformatory. seven others were placed on probation with mandatory supervision after dark. Parents were admonished to monitor their children and repay missing property once valued.

License tags go on sale in county treasurer office

The 1949 passenger car license tags are on sale at the county treasurer's office. Truck tags are pending arrival. Tags use a county based numbering system with blue numerals on white for passenger tags and blue with white numerals for truck plates. County codes list 1 Santa Fe through 31 Harding. Special numbers held for school bus, state official, and dealer tags. County Treasurer Damon Dunagan urges those who reserved numbers to pick up tags soon.

Lordsburg Chamber to Install Officers for 1949

Commerce invites the public to the first meeting of the year at City Hall on Monday January 17 at 8 00 pm in Lordsburg. School Board Election February First

A notice from the Lordsburg Lordsburg Municipal school district Board of Education states a February 1 election to elect one six year board member. All registered voters in School District No. 1 may vote. Candidacy filings are due by 5 p.m. January 28 to the secretary Mrs. Jennie Gass. At least two candidates expected.

Mavericks Fall to Hot Springs 44 to 38 in Frustrating Doubleheader

Lordsburg travels to Hatch to face the Bears at 2:00 PM and loses 47 to 30. McDonald tallies 8 for the Mavericks. In the Hot Springs game Lordsburg struggles on the boards and trails 10 to 15 at halftime. McDonald again leads with 14, Buhr 11, while Johnson of Hot Springs scores 17. Lordsburg hosts Silver City Friday and plays Hurley Saturday.

Past Due Auto Checks Prompted by State Patrol

Patrolman John Bradford reminded residents that regular inspections for defective brakes lights and related items are past due and that checks for new brake and light stickers will occur soon. Some licenses expired December 31 and renewals should be applied for at City Hall with cooperation requested from all drivers.
