Two Apprehended In Armed Robbery In Hidalgo County

Hidalgo County Sheriff's officers hold two suspects in the Feb 19 armed robbery of Road Forks Service Station. Jose te Coronel 20 of Los Angeles faces armed robbery with $10,000 bond. a 16 year old juvenile also charged. Officers recovered $302. Suspects were arrested at the Port of Entry after a tip from Cochise County investigator. The two are also wanted in Los Angeles for murder with a firearm. Paperwork pending from Texas and California.

Rest Home To Get New Administrator In Lordsburg

Sunshine Haven Nursing Home in Lordsburg will appoint Don Humphrey of Eunice as administrator, replacing Andra Ellinson. Humphrey, a former Hobbs hospital administrator, arrives after a health department inspection ordered March 31 decertification risk. A consultant, Dr. Bob Patton of Albuquerque, was hired to fix deficiencies.

Duncan Ariz Man Killed In Highway Mishap

Wade Aaron Price, 21, of Duncan Arizona, died early Thursday when his car left Highway 90 near Lordsburg in Hidalgo County. Police say the westbound vehicle went out of control and rolled several times. He was declared dead at 4:45 a.m. by Deputy Medical Examiner Don McNutt. State Police investigator Dan Harris led the inquiry.

Lordsburg to Host District GAA Boys Basketball Tournament

Lordsburg High School will host the District GAA Boys Basketball Tournament this weekend at Maverick Gym. Action begins Friday at 10 a.m. with Hatch versus Ruidoso, followed by a Friday night semi final at 8 p.m. The final pits the semi winner against Lordsburg on Saturday at 8 p.m. Admission is 2 dollars for adults and 1.50 for students.

Man accidentally shoots himself in Lordsburg leg

Frank Madrid, 41, of Lordsburg, was accidentally shot in the upper left leg while preparing to clean a pistol. He was rushed to Silver City for treatment. The incident occurred Friday evening near 8:30 p.m. according to Lordsburg City Police.

McNutt Honored At Hidalgo County Appreciation Dinner

More than 150 people attended a dinner honoring Don McNutt local paramedic who has served Hidalgo County since October 1976. He leads multiple ambulance units and emergency services while a gunshot victim was rushed to Silver City by McNutt and his crew after the cake was cut.
