Teachers Adopt National on. Program at county meeting

The Hid-County Teachers association held a spring meeting Tuesday at Lordsbury high school. President B B McAlister presided as 100 percent of the teaching staff attended. Miss Mary Foraker spoke on key issues facing New Mexico teachers, emphasizing salaries and tenure. The group adopted the National and State Centennial Action Program 1951 to 1957, focusing on strengthening the profession and improving services to children.

Musical Program At Woman's Club Presented

The Woman's Club held a Monday afternoon program due to illness of scheduled speakers. Mrs. Claude C. Fuller arranged the music and art, with M Freeman McWhorter delivering a humorous reading An Automobile Traffic Jam. Performances included piano duets Chop Sticks by DeLuisi, vocal numbers Shoo Shoo by Hilary, and opening Red River Valley by Sammy Bis.

Americanism program at high school Friday notice

The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors a program on Americanism at the high school auditorium Friday evening at eight. Patrio tism music will be furnished by the high school band under Roger Brandt with assembly singing. County Clerk Marshall Fuller will give a short resume on the flag history and edification.

Canadian Tourists To Leave Fun In Wreck

Canadian tourists from St. Joseph d Alma Quebec and Montreal have been staying at Hotel Hidalgo after a Jan 26 auto wreck involving Alvin Dunagan’s pickup. They plan to finish their vacation by visiting Guamas Mexico Angeles Seattle Vancouver Murray and other points before returning home. They enjoyed Lordsburg’s desert country and hope to return next winter.

Air Scouts regrouped under station manager Withiam Jaming and district Scout commissioner K C Holleman at the Municipal Airport. Fychange Students Speak at BPW Meet

Four exchange students from the University of New Mexico spoke at a BPW dinner meeting with a hands across the seas theme. The evening focused on education and vocation. Committee chairs included Mrs. Eila Brown with members Miss Alice Gordon Mrs. Mabel Eckert and Mrs. Mary Dee Kipp. The participants included Christospher Jako of Hungary studying electrical engineering.
