New Mexico Toll Rises With Fatal Bike Crash
The New Mexico traffic toll climbed to 417 deaths after a Friday crash on U S Highway 62 near Lordsburg. Hans Regen of Carlsbad died when a motorcycle being towed behind a car driven by Benjamin Lindley of Long Beach California flipped. Regen leaves a family in California and the funeral was held in Carlsbad.

Christmas Program By High School Choruses
A capacity crowd filled the rural School gym last night to hear a Christmas production titled The Christmas Story and the Christmas Party by Lordsburg pols junior and senior high departments. Robert Park narrated the program which also featured the sixth grade glee club and the activity scene portrayed by junior high students. The program was directed by Joyce Matthews and Ger Brandt with ushers provided by the Lordsburg Woman's Club.

Two Lordsburg workers from Community Public Service were honored at a Silver City dinner on December 11 marking retirement after long service. J R Poindexter Sr and Jack Wilson were recognized with Poindexter noted as the longest serving employee, starting as a fireman in 1914 at the Silver City plant.
