Death of Mrs Anna Mariah Ownby 93 in Lordsburg
Mrs Anna Mariah Salkeld Ownby 93 known as Aunt Anna died Saturday Dec 20 at the home of Mrs Emma Taylor Johnson where she had lived four years. Born Nov 26 1859 in Mon Prille Missouri she moved with her parents to California and married Bramble B Ownby in Bakersfield in 1880. They settled in Lordsburg Jan 27 1881. She was a poet whose verses appeared in The Lordsburg Liberal and served as choir director at the Church of Christ. Survived only by a nephew Dr B Ownby of Lordsburg. Funeral Monday at 2:30 at the Church of Christ with burial in Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers listed.
