Mosaic gifted to Hidalgo County finds new home
The tile mosaic of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, removed from Hotel Hidalgo, was dedicated Friday at Hidalgo County Court House. Mrs Leila DePaoli and son Tomny DePaoli donated it in memory of Q.T. DePaoli. Commissioners Noce Veck and District Judge Saucedo accepted.

Officials To Finalize Fieldhouse Bond Issue Details
Mayor Clark Smith and Mayor Pro Tem Danny Placencia along with staff will travel to Las Cruces December 30 to finish Fieldhouse Revenue Bond Issue documentation. First National Bank of Dona Ana acts as paying agent. Lordsburg officials, bank and bond agent staff, will sign the necessary records. Bond proceeds of 565000 dollars plus accrued interest will be placed with Western Bank of Lordsburg. A special meeting is set for Tuesday January 19 to review Phase 1 bid dispensation for construction.

The State highway and Transportation Department reports alcohol involvement in teen crash fatalities from 1982 to 1986. Average 74 teenagers killed per year. 51 percent of fatalities occurred in vehicles with alcohol impaired drivers. 1986 had 75 deaths with 48 percent in impaired vehicles. 1982 saw 88 teen fatalities with 58 percent in impaired driver cases.
