National Guard Christmas Party Held for 100 Guests
The annual National Guard Christmas party gathered more than one hundred Guardsmen and guests at the Armory on Saturday December 16. Honorees included Capt. and Mrs. Andy Padilla from Bravo Battery Silver City WO Rudolph Triviz Las Cruces and Sgt Adolf Diaz Delta Battery Deming. Dinner at 7 30 featured turkey and trimmings prepared by Angel Talavera Domingo Galvan and others. A film of last summer encampment followed, then dancing with Rhythm Kings of Silver City.

Arizona Officers Apprehend Local Garage Burglar
Police recovered a stolen automobile owned by Fred Collins after arresting James Robert White, 28, in Globe for transporting a stolen car across state lines. Two tires and a tool box were recovered. two tires remain missing. White, a federal parole violator, claimed prior two weeks in Lordsburg. Entry was gained by breaking a window on Animas Street.

Burglar Caught In High School Safe Job
Police halted a break in at the local high school on Thursday night December 14 when Patrolman Rudy Lara and Officer Jack Ellis spotted an open door to the superintendent's area. Billy Thompson, from Galup, was found hiding on the auditorium stage with screwdrivers a wrecking bar and an ax. Chief Gene Moore believes another person was involved who escaped. Thompson pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and was bound over to district court in $3,000 bond.
