Santa and Reindeer Bring Christmas Cheer to Lordsburg
Santa Claus and his reindeer visited Lordsburg on Friday night drawing about 4000 people. Dancer Prancer Donder and Blitzen arrived at East and West Railroad avenues near the municipal Christmas tree, greeting children and their families. Santa even asked after Ronny Barnes who is ill with pneumonia. Grady Carothers and Arctic reindeer traveled from Texas to visit towns including Alamagordo Roswell Carlsbad Lordsburg and Silver City. The Lordsburg Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event.

Jack Summer, chief inspector at Road Forks Port of Entry, reports 2073 trucks weighed from December 9 to December 20. Of these, 98 were overloaded and cited. The heaviest truck carried 7000 pounds over the limit.

T W Croom Takes Over Duties At Local Church
T W Croom recently from Banning California has joined the Church of Christ on Fifth Street near Animas Street. Born in Arkansas and educated in public schools he pursued college work at Henderson Tennessee finishing in 1913. He taught in public schools and worked as an evangelist before full time church work beginning in 1944 in Santa Fe New Mexico.

Santa Claus to Visit Lordsburg Recreation Center
All Lordsburg children are invited to visit Santa at the Recreation Center Sunday evening December 24 at 7 30. He will be the guest of Mr and Mrs John A Johnson and John Jr at the center with George Weden. Johnson has word from Santa at the North Pole that he will be in Lordsburg to give candy to all children and will welcome grown ups.

Digging of The Cienga Lake Completed
The N. M. Game Commission sponsored fishing lake near Rodeo in the Cienga region is completed. Located eight miles from Rodeo, the lake spans about three miles with an average depth of five feet. It will be stocked once rainfall fills it, and Joe Olonia of Taos oversaw the project.

March of Dimes Planning Meeting Under Harold Scofield
The March of Dimes committee led by Harold Scofield met at the Ranch House cafe to plan the coming campaign.
