Santa Claus will greet local youngsters at the Lordsburg Youth Center this Saturday, December 22, from 6 to 9 p.m. Children are invited to stop in and visit with Santa.
Hillcrest General Hospital administrator Mel Lyons asked Hidalgo County Commissioners to fund indigent care for Lordsburg area residents at 2000 dollars a month. Commissioners will review the request over a three month trial period before setting a quarterly amount. Louie Wong, 21, of Mentor on the Lakes Ohio, has been identified as the man who died from gunshot wounds after a high speed chase with police near Lordsburg. The medical examiner said he died of a head gunshot and a abdominal wound. Wong reportedly shot at officers as he fled along I-10 on November 20 before crashing and dying.
