The Liberal editor is asked to locate a pair of small spurs for Henry Rainville Jr a nearly five year old boy near Duncan Arizona son of Mr and Mrs Rainville who live eight miles south of Duncan. The note notes Henry has boots and a pony but no spurs.
Mr and Mrs Donald Nelson announce the birth of a girl on December 2 in Provo Utah. The Nelsons recently moved from Virden to Provo. Several residents are mentioned with visits, events, and travels including quilting parties, church work in Mesa, a basketball game progress, and family visits to Arizona, Texas, Kansas, and California.
The Anta Methodist Church will host a Christmas program on Sunday December 22 at 7:30 PM. An annual offering for the Methodist Home will be taken to support about 420 orphan children requiring around one hundred thousand dollars yearly.

The new quonset hut canteen at Fort Bayard New Mexico is nearing completion and will be run by the Veterans Administration. A manager will be hired from the southwest, with interviews December 19. The post offers a 40 hour week, benefits, and a furnished four room house at 25 dollars monthly, with free meals for veterans.
Three thousand tons of ammonium phosphate will be distributed to commercial dealers across New Mexico. State PMA Director C V Hemphill said supply shortages prompted aid to farmers. Hidalgo County dealers receive a share, with allocations set by the state committee.

Salary scales range 145 to 340 with many vacancies especially for Interviewer. Applications due January 4 1947 at Santa Fe or postmarked by midnight January 4 1947.
Kate Smith announces the third annual Sister Elizabeth Kenny Foundation drive starting November 18 to raise 2 million dollars. The fund aims to fight infantile paralysis with a coast to coast Mutual network broadcast featuring stars from Hollywood and Broadway.
The W. S. C. 5 enchilada supper and bazaar were held Friday night in the Undercroft of the Methodist Church. About 150 plates were served and more than 40 dollars worth of merchandise was sold. Items unsold remain displayed at the Community Public Service office windows. A W. S. C. S. meeting is planned for today at Mrs. Donald Johnson's home with co-hostesses Mrs. George Jeffus and Mrs. John Bradford and program led by Mrs. Jack Heather.
Mra Viola Lacy was elected worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star at a regular meeting in Masonic Hall Tuesday. Other officers named include Willis Lacy as worthy patron Mra Julia Chase associate matron Homer Hountree associate patron Mrs Haze Chase secretary Mrs Gertrude Wright treasurer Mre Mary Dee Kipp conductress and Mrs Berta H Rountree associate conductress.
Sam Bass choir director of the First Baptist Church will present the adult and young peoples' choirs in a pageant of Christmas carol at 8 p.m. Sunday Dec 22. The public is invited to attend.
An El Paso Social Security Administration representative will visit Lordsburg on Thursday December 19 1946 at 9 00 a m in the Hidalgo Hotel lounge to assist with filing claims for old age and survivor's insurance benefits. The visit will be brief with interviews by appointment only. The next regular visit is January 30 1947.

The Lordsburg Lions Club held a noon meeting at the Woman's Club naming Harry Galusha general chair and listing committee heads for athletics, dance, box collections, and a cake raffle. Pete Chase will contact women’s clubs for the project as the March of Dimes drive moves forward.
Members of the Southwer New Mexico Highway Association met at Deming to push improvements on Highway 80 from Las Cruces to Lordsburg. Alton Powell led the Lordsburg delegation. committee members Jeffus and Powell to contact Santa Fe officials. Silver City attendees backed the plan including Mayor Ward and Roy Henry.
The B Sharp Music Club will present a program Monday December 16 at 8 a m in the First Methodist Church. Guest artiste will be Mrs Thelma Ross and Wesley Darkhuff. The program includes folk music play readings and piano solos. The public is invited.
Two more students, Benie Bye erett and Odell Still, completed solo flights at the GI Flying School. Marshall Kuykendall announced the school, which opened in November, now operates two ships, Aeronea Tandem and Interstate, after six students soloed last week: Kenneth McNab, Gerald Hunt, Fowler Stucke, O. J. Richins, Sid Wright, and Fred Ewing.
D F Matheson of the War Assets Administration arrived to organize a Lordsburg stop where a team will certify World War II veterans for government surplus property purchases. Veterans are urged to appear January 10 from 1 to 5 pm and January 11 from 8 am to 5 pm at Lordsburg City Hall with discharge papers.
The Lordsburg Hidalgo Library received a donation from Santa Fe listing numerous titles and authors including Daisy Miller by James, The Magic Mountain, Of Human Bondage, Laughing Boy, The Dark is Rising omnibus, and many others across fiction, travel, and reference. The note details authors such as Kipling Kohler Maugham Flaubert and Otero and titles spanning classic novels to cookbooks and memoirs.
The N. and T. Club met Tuesday afternoon at Mrs. Luella Clark's home. Present were Mrs. Charlie Fuller, Mrs. R. B. Ownby, Mrs. F. R. Poage, Mrs. Harry Scofield, Mrs. G. W. Tribble, and Mrs. Clark. Guests included Mrs. J. Al Augustine and Mrs. Olivea Wells.

Marine officer W. R. Gross of the U.S. Marine Corps will visit Silver City Mexico from December 16 to 21. He will be at the Post Office daily from 8:00 to 4:00 p.m. to discuss a four year enlistment and benefits, including completing schooling while in service, and will provide complete information on any aspect of the Marine Corps.
