Ten hours of flight needed before solo, with about 50 hours for a private license over roughly 3 1/2 months. Unemployment benefits in New Mexico for civilians and adjustment allowances for veterans declined from September to October 1946. Total jobless payments dropped from 215 649 to 189 704. Veterans benefits fell from 233 811 to 176 811 while civilian unemployment pay rose modestly to 12 893. The number of civilian claimants fell to 259, the lowest of 1946.
