A diesel truck traveling east on High Ma 1952 near Mt Deslas Texas left the road and overturned after midnight. The tractor overturned with three occupants aboard. all were hospitalized and later released after treatment.
A car going to Rodeo overturned in a ditch on Highway 80 near Granite Gap about ten pm Wednesday. Driver Robert Noling and passengers Lawrence Lawson LeRoy Jones Eddie Calloway and Bert Blake were hospitalized with unspecified injuries. Calloway and Lawson sustained cast and bruises. The car, owned by Dennis Noling, was a total wreck. Sheriff Dick Richards investigated.
The Lordsburg high school Senior Band directed by Mr. Roger Brandt performed for a full audience in the assembly room last Friday evening. The program opened with the National Anthem and closed with Sousa's March. Highlights included The Star Spangled Banner El Relicario and Salutation March.
Torrdsburg residents are promised a musical highlight on January 14 as Ru binoff and his violin, an internationally renowned concert artist, appears at the High School Auditorium under local sponsorship. Rolfer Brandt, chairman, says the event aims to be one of the season’s outstanding performances with committees and ticket locations to be announced soon.
Santa Claus spent part of a Saturday afternoon in Lordsburg visiting the Jerry Store. Children and parents gathered as Jimmy McCommis, manager of the Lordsburg Jewelry Company, helped organize the event. Santa welcomed the crowd and posed for photos, delivering holiday cheer to local youngsters.
Information from local distributor Mrs. Ben Cochran states 1955 car license plates go on sale December 15, 1954. Plates are sold in numerical order, with rare low numbers possibly repeating 1954 figures for requests in writing by December 15, 1954. Reservations hold until December 24, 1954. otherwise plates go to first caller after fees are paid.
Lordsburg plans holiday lights with help from merchants after the City and Chamber fund shortfall. Merchants and the Chamber Board direct donations to cover lighting costs and arrange for volunteers to install and remove decorations.
The Lordsburg Mavericks played two games posting a win and a loss. They lost 49 to 27 to Los Lunas as free throws crippled their effort with seven makes on 27 attempts. Alamo Gordo led early and held the lead, while Bob Williams suffered a season ending knee reinjury.
