County panels narrow hospital management bids in Lordsburg

Hidalgo County Commissioners edged toward a final decision on managing General Hospital during a December 12 meeting. They eliminated Hospital Affiliates of Austin and Southern New Mexico Professional Association, heard HRM and Vista Medical Group proposals, and discussed fees, doctor recruitment, and readiness plans for reopening the 26 bed facility closed since June 5.

Senator I M Smalley of Luna Hidalgo Sierra was re elected as Senate President Pro Tem, extending his 21 year tenure in the Senate and prior House service before his 1956 election.
