Captain France to Speak on Communism at Elks Memorial

Captain John France of the U S Army will address the Elks Memorial service on Sunday December 10 at 3 p m at the Elks Temple. He will discuss Communism and share insights from behind the Iron Curtain. The talk is part of a touring lecture series.

Rex Kipp To Attend Cattle Growers Meet in Clovis

School Faculty Tour Highlights Historic Shakespeare Visit

Miss Jan Louise Hill 11, a pupil tutored by her mother, hosted Lordsburg school faculty and spouses on a Shakespeare tour. Mrs. John T. Muir recalled pioneer days as the group learned about the Butterfield stage trail and National Mail route. Each guest received history booklets and a memorial dedication.

Hidalgo County taxpayers are informed that 1950 taxes are due by December 1 1950 and delinquent after January 1 1951. The State Tax Commissioner has extended payment time to December 1 1950. further extension depends on January legislative actions. The Bluebird Buttercup and Pine Cone patrols of the Lords burg Girl Scouts thank contributors for the rummage sale held last Saturday December 2. About $20 was cleared and the girls raise funds for Scout activities through the event.

Santa Claus Parade Arrives Friday Night in Lordsburg

Santa Claus comes to town Friday December 15 at 7 30 p m for a free parade sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Dancer Prancer Donner and Blitzen will be present with names on their red leather harnesses. Grady Carothers of Goldthwaite coordinates the Arctic Circle team for the display.

Ralph Craig Named NMW Football MVP for 1950

Ralph Craig, dependable senior halfback and cocaptain of New Mexico Western college’s Mustangs, earned the 1950 Most Valuable Player honor. He overcame a 1949 knee injury to post 969 total yards, with 890 rushing and 79 receiving, earning a trophy from Blackwell’s Jewelers at a Wednesday banquet.
