Cattle Spraying Trial On Curry Ranch Attracts County Attention

About 200 head owned by John Currey were sprayed Sunday by County Agent Ed Hitson after dipping for lice. Cattle will repeat the treatment in 18 days using Rotenone and a DDT mixture. Local ranchers plan December demonstrations and aim for statewide de lousing and de gravelling efforts by December 15.

New Mexico Cattle Growers Association plans its Third Quarterly Executive Board session in Clovis on December 5 and 6. George A. In the invasion of Northern Europe a large part of the oil demand was transported by sixteen petroleum lines laid along the floor of the English Channel from Dungeness to Boulogne and from the Isle of Wight to Cherbourg. Continental requirements were met on a ten day basis.

Drivers Licenses On Sale December First 1947

Drivers licenses for 1947 will go on sale Dec 1 for motorists holding a 1946 New Mexico license. Those without a 1946 license must first obtain one before a 1947 permit is issued. Drivers lacking a 1045 or 1946 New Mexico license or a 1946 license from another state must pass an examination given by a New Mexico State Police member or Port of Entry Chief Inspector.

Former Rodeo Man J G Bird Dies in Texas

Mrs. Rachel Atkinson reports the death of J G Bird of Grand View Texas on November 12. Bird formerly lived in Rodeo and was well known in the Rodeo community. He is survived by Mrs Bird who plans to return to Rodeo soon to make her home.

Ford Revises Driving Equipment For Vets

Ford Motor Company has provided disabled World War II veterans with free special driving equipment. L Prine, Ford dealer in Lordsburg, explains Congress allocated 30 million dollars to purchase cars with devices for veterans entitled to compensation for loss or loss of use of limbs. License Plates To Be Available January 1

New Mexico will offer 1947 license plates starting January 1 announced by County Treasurer Mertice Brooks. Plates show a county designation before the serial number with a sun symbol. regular plates cover private cars staff officers mounted patrol cars trucks and trailers. Hidalgo County motorists will use plate number 24.

Nazarene Services Planned For Sunday

Area Closed to Protect Rare Duck in New Mexico

The San Simon Cienega, part of the San Simon Land Utilization Project, is closed to hunting to protect a rare New Mexico duck population. The nesting site, the only known area outside the Rio Grande Valley, is cited by Regional Biologist A B Borell. Beaver and muskrat removal is allowed to stabilize erosion and improve conditions for wildlife.
