City Corner thanks officials for hospitable visit and informs on animal control ordinance

Fair Plans Finalized By Chamber

The Hidalgo County Chamber of Commerce outlines parade procedures for the Hidalgo County Fair Parade including marked parade entries with numbered spots on Second Street. Three float divisions will be awarded money prizes of 50, 25 and 15 with a $10 entry fee, and Citizen of the Year nominations open after the September 18 meeting with a November 3 banquet finalization.

Hidalgo County Fair Weekend Schedule Promises Plenty

Reading this weekend’s Hidalgo County Fair schedule, the 34th annual event kicks off with exhibit check in Thursday at 10 a.m. judging in the Exhibit Building at 6 p.m. and livestock books closing at 7:30 p.m. The following day features swine sheep and steers judging at 8 a.m. and displays at 10 a.m. A Western Bank front action parade and a 2 p.m. parade on 2nd Street precede Friday’s events including a 3:30 p.m. Pet Show and a 7:30 p.m. Junior Rodeo. Saturday brings the livestock sale at 10 a.m. followed by a bar-b-que at noon, the Hidalgo County All-Breed Horse Show at 1 p.m., and another Junior Rodeo at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for ages 6-12. the gate pass covers the entire day.

Lucky Family Of Four Will Be Fair Guests

The Sheriff’s Department will stop a family of four on the freeway Friday morning and invite them to be guests of the Chamber of Commerce for Fairday on August 31. They will spend the day in Lordsburg Hidalgo County to watch the Big Shoot Out at the Western Corral parade and visit the Fair with lodging at the American Best Western Motel and dinners sponsored by Border Cowboy Cafe China Doll and El Charro.

Patterson To Speak At Hidalgo County Demo Meeting

The Hidalgo County Democratic Party will hold a meeting on Thursday September 6 at 7 00 p m in the County Commissioners Meeting Room Hidalgo County Courthouse. Vedene Patterson from Carlsbad will be guest speaker. She is field coordinator for New Mexico Second Congressional District of the Democrat Presidential Election Campaign. Everyone is welcome and please bring a friend.
