Chamber To Meet Friday At Border Cowboys

The Chamber of Commerce will meet Friday August 24 at Border Cowboys Restaurant to finalize plans for the Hidalgo County Fair Parade and Chile Cook Off. Members at large may attend the noon meeting to offer comments and suggestions.

Little League Final Closes Season Friday Ceremony

The little league will hold the closing ceremony at 6:00 PM Friday August 24 at the Little League Field. Equipment and uniforms are to be turned in during the event. All players coaches and managers must attend.

Grant Okayed For Modular Home Project

The Governor's office in Santa Fe notified the Liberal that the Community Development Council under Gov. Toney Anaya has granted Lordsburg a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant for a manufacturing housing plant to be run by Marine Services Co Inc. The council projects 50 full time jobs within six to nine months with an estimated annual payroll of $1,000,000.

Hidalgo County Fair enters its 34th year with a rodeo parade and events. The 1984 parade theme is Cowboy Heaven, proposed by Gale Kipp, and Lt. The City of Lordsburg was awarded a $50,000 Economic Development Grant on Monday to assist Carl Marino in developing a housing manufacturing factory. The money will be re-loaned to the developer at below market rates with a long repayment period to spur operations possibly by late January or February next year.
