Smelter returns from the Co-Operative mine the last shipment show high grade carbonate ore with 90 ounces silver per ton 3.39 lead and 8.8 iron and 3 lime per cent value per ton 158.16 dollars plus gold and other metals. The mine sent another car this week and two more are ready to bring down, indicating strong output and favorable ore quality.
The 400 members of the Citizens Military Training Camp at Fort Logan marched through downtown Denver with precision and bayoneted rifles. After a civic reception and parade, they rode to the Sells Floto circus where performers and band entertained them, earning cheers from spectators.
Adjuster Wilson arrived this morning to inspect and repair damages from the Robson fire loss, meeting with residents and outlining next steps for restoration.
E. T. Williams J. G. Nicholas and J. W. Crites with J. H. White visited the Last Chance Mine. They report over 15 000 tons developed with ore assays from 15 to 30 ounces silver per ton. A high grade 340 ounce per ton silver streak was found on the west drift 275 foot level. The lessees plan a compressor plant and a 50 ton mill after water development.
Mrs. L. P. McHalffey and her two sons Garland and L. P. returned Saturday from Mississippi where they spent the summer vacation. The community expresses pleasure at their return. Gammon is noted as an artist in woodwork.
H. L. Gammon repaired an old violin owned by L. A. Bradberry. The instrument was shattered but now gleams with a maple and rosewood inlaid finger board. Bradberry says it is better than it was forty years ago.
J. T. Clayton receives a hand somely engraved solid silver efficiency medal for his conduct at the station. His name and address are engraved on the service bar. Official statistics show Lordsburg and Tucson as the only perfect stations on the Tucson division.
The Liberal office showcases engraved personal greeting cards with early ordering urged to beat holiday rush. A 5 percent discount applies to all engraved card orders placed before September 15. The sample lines note the forms are beautiful and artistic. August 25 to September 8.
The village of Hatch between Deming and Rincon was nearly wiped out by last week’s flood due to faulty dyke construction. Miss Inez Wright reported along the train that conditions are pitiable. The Salvation Army and Red Cross have arrived to aid.

Randolph was widely known and respected across the southwest for over a quarter century.
Episcopal minister Rev Kenneth Houlder of Deming christened Harvey Robert Stengle, infant son of Mr and Mrs F H Stengle, during a visit to Lordsburg this week. He plans to depart Monday for Cuba to lead a large church with about 4500 communicants, leaving many Lordsburg friends missing his visits.
Postmaster M Q Hardin reports a pleasant tour through Arizona and California. He notes his wife Mrs Hardin is in splendid health and weighs 133 pounds, a welcome update to Lordsburg friends.

A Duncan resident, J. M. Donaldson, brought an ear showing a natural wheat growth split inside a corn ear. The peculiar specimen, recovered after husks were removed, is described as a very unusual freak of nature and is available for viewing at the office.

The birth of a 12 pound son to Mr and Mrs Glen L Hoss on the evening of August 19 was celebrated by friends. After several days the parents announced the chosen name Richard Glen Koss for the new baby son of the banker family.
Mrs. K. Cloudt raised this year what may be the largest head of cabbage in the county. The specimen tips the plate with a circumference nearly as large as a cow and weighs heavily. A patch of the same variety yields several heads two to three feet in circumference. The Cloudt ranch also reports a fine corn crop this season.
Harry Jacobse and Leo Rosenastein tested the Blue Goose in a weekend run from El Paso to Deming via Las Cruces totaling 110 miles in 3 percent hours. The return route via Lordsburg showed rough roads that would take ten hours instead of two, highlighting the car as a regular racing machine.
D Jordan led six Hidalgo delegates to the Democratic State Convention in Albuquerque last week. He earned memberships on key committees and helped secure Judge R H Hanna’s nomination with assurances of campaign funding by supporters.
Miss Inev Wright county superintendent of schools returned from a meeting of educators in Banta Pe called by the superintendent of public instruction to discuss defeat of amendment No. 4. The solutions were unanimously passed urging voters to vote no, with Governor Mechem among those urging a defeat.
Paso dailies report Jer Bennett Boyd aged 14 murdered near Caretas Ranch about 60 miles from the border. He was son of I. J. Boyd and nephew of Dre Paul and Banks Austin of this city. Corinne Boyd, sister of the slain youth, had recently visited cousins there while her mother and she were in California. Earlier, two older brothers were kidnapped by Mexicans for ransom and paid. Paul Austin and J. T. Jones have been at Caretas ranch reviewing cattle and may return soon.
Mrs Lucila Clark regent of the New Mexico Male Normal returns from Bilverly after twelve weeks. She visited Normal College then stayed at the Ladies Hospital for a minor operation and medical care under Dr Westlake. Community welcomes her home.
Roadmaster J A Allen broke his right leg above the ankle in a mix up with his motor car near Libson on Friday. He was treated at the 8 P hospital by Dr M M Crocker and sent to Hotel Dieu, El Paso. Hugh Collins will act as roadmaster at Willcok until he can return to work. The break was very bad.
George W Hanner and family returned home from an auto tour that began July 14 visiting Magdalena Hillsboro and Deming in New Mexico and Arizona. The only mishap was Mrs Hanner spraining her wrist cranking a stubborn self starter. The family joked it feels like they have been away four years.
