The concrete slab near the Southern Pacific depot in Lordsburg for outdoor dancing in the Diamond Jubilee month is nearing completion. J Fallat, contractor, expects to finish today, Friday, with the slab ready by the 27th. it measures 40 by 90 feet and requires several yards of concrete from the H Bishop Lum Company, donated supervision and labor, cost limited to materials.

Four Hidalgo County girls won white ribbons at a state 4 H encampment contest. Annabelle Poin of Lordsburg Frances Ri and Martha Nell DeVilbiss entered while Louise Veck modeled a gray suit with red accessories. The girls placed in their class with top and second thirds, among six judged categories.

Auto Collision Claims Life Of Fresno Man On Highway 70
A two car crash at 8:50 PM on August 16, six miles east of Lordsburg on Highway 70 and 680 killed Olen Har Kitchen, 41, of Fresno, California. Sam William Clark, 36, and his wife Louise, 32, of San Francisco, were treated for minor injuries after their 1955 DeSoto collided with a 1954 Mercury driven in the opposite lane by Kitchen. The Mercury driver died en route to the hospital. both cars were severely damaged.
