Isburg Schools Band Schedule Announced

The regular school band schedule begins Monday with sessions for Senior Band from 9 30 to 11 09 and Junior Band from 1 30 to 2 39. Students will attend their respective bands as listed in the new timetable effective Monday through the week.

Gasoline Truck Upsets East of Lordsburg

Rayburn C. Hutchins 24 of Lordsburg escaped injury after a 1954 White gasoline truck and tank trailer owned by Whitfield Tank Lines overturned 18 miles east of Lordsburg on Highways 70 and 80. The front tire blew out causing the truck to leave the road and ride the ditch onto the old railroad bed. State Police officer Joe Rutland from Lordsburg investigated.

High School Boys Asked to Register for National Guard Camp

Notice calls high school boys planning to attend the National Guard encampment this summer to report to Mr. McAlister’s office in the high school building on Friday August 12 between 9 AM and 4 PM to register for the coming school term.

Local Man To Be Tried On Federal Charges

A Lordsburg case involving a July 29 break in at James Allen's home ended when stolen property was recovered and three suspects were turned over to Federal authorities. Manuel Contreras confessed a juvenile accomplice helped in the break in. The group faces Albuquerque federal charges.

Lordsburg plans a three day rodeo and two day fair on September 16 17 with a kickoff dinner September 15 for Old Timer members. Parade exhibits and community participation from business schools churches and civic groups are expected to boost the events at the fairgrounds and Legion hall.

Jubilee Celebration Urged for Lordsburg 75th Anniversary

Lordsburg citizens and longtime residents are urged to help organize the 75th anniversary celebration slated for September 15 to 18. Aimed at drawing visitors, the effort calls for advertising, bumper stickers at 50 cents per pair, celebration buttons 25 cents each, and shave permits at one dollar, all available at the Chamber of Commerce office.
