The Blackburn family traveling to Denver collided 30 miles north of Albuquerque in heavy rain when brakes failed on a wet road. No injuries reported. Mr Blackburn continued to Denver while Mrs Blackburn and Kay returned to Lordsburg leaving the car in Albuquerque for repairs.

Fall From Horse Breaks Wrist Of Lordsburg Girl
Ernestine Short daughter of Mr and Mrs E J Short of Lordsburg fractured her left wrist while riding in Lincoln. Her horse ran under a tree a limb struck her and threw her from the mount. She was brought back to Lordsburg Monday for treatment.

Fire destroys Grant's Feed Store Wednesday night
A fire at the corner of Sasin Street and Railroad Avenue destroyed Grant's Feed Store and its contents. Firefighters arrived quickly but the wooden building and stock were a total loss. Ronald Egan, owner of the building, was living in Phoenix at the time.

Prominent Local Resident Harry L Scofield Dies at 73
Harry L Scofield former foreman and mining executive died Saturday at Ft Bayard Veterans Hospital aged 73 after a long illness. He was born September 16 1877 in Stamford Connecticut and lived in Pasadena before joining the California Infantry in 1889. He served in the Spanish American War and worked for Phelps Dodge Mining for 22 years. He later joined 40 Mining Company of Cananea Mexico and then Valedon New Mexico where he supervised mines before retirement.
