Lordsburg High School Pre Registration Dates Announced

New and returning students in grades 9 through 12 may pre-register at Lordsburg High School from August 12 to 16. Registration hours are 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The note references publication circulation and a proposed ad agency contract, with regional tourism promotion plans involving nearby towns.

Break In at Hidalgo Bar Leads to Recovery of Stolen Goods

Sheriff Billy Darnell reports the Hidalgo Bar was broken into on Friday August 2 and several beer cases, alcohol, a steel guitar and a stereo were stolen. A search warrant the next day recovered the items with officers John McDonald Juan Salazar Flossie Holly and Richard Chavez assisting. One suspect charged, two others to be charged soon. A separate incident east of town saw gas caps removed from several vehicles. no gasoline missing. A trucker at the Arizona Port of Entry allegedly stabbed himself during a dispute and was detained for detoxification after being stopped near I 10 and Lordsburg.

Animas School Board Meeting Set for August 13

The Animas School Board will hold a regular session on Tuesday August 13 at 730 p m in the Elementary Library. The Policy Manual will be reviewed and the public is invited. The upcoming agenda will be posted in all post offices.

Lordsburg Umphres Day raises 5743 for family at community event

A weekend fundraiser in Lordsburg collected 5743 for the Umphres Family. Dozens of local groups organized booths, a pony of volunteers donated food and supplies, and a dunking booth plus a dance boosted support. A Little League meeting is scheduled for Thursday evening.

Insurance bids open as Lordsburg school board revises plan

Lordsburg School Board reviewed bids with a 30,000 budget for insurance up 25 percent from last year. Workman's Comp jumped to 22,506 from 10,400, while a package bid of 42,207 exceeded the budget. Southwest Underwriters of Deming retained auto liability. No Intentions Of Leaving City

Dr. Charles Maynard told the Liberal Monday he has no intentions of leaving Lordsburg. He plans a private practice in the Hidalgo County Hospital area, aiming to move by September 1, with potential local hiring and economic benefits from a new rehabilitation facility and related renovations funded partly by a state grant.

Booge Returns Home After 32 Years With AT&T

Booge Bensely Jr known as Booge retires after a 32 year career with AT&T Long Lines. Starting as a groundman in Stoughton Wisconsin he moved across locations before roles in Lordsburg Kansas City and San Francisco. He and wife Norma live at 908 Randall Lordsburg with children Cynthia Sybil and Olympic shooter Todd.
