Benefit events plan to help a critical patient

Nine year old Joni Umphres remains in critical condition after a stroke while being treated for a kidney ailment. A weekend benefit in Lordsburg features a Turkey Shoot at 9:00 a.m. a Dance at 8:00 p.m. and a full fair with a Bar-B-Q Dinner a White Elephant Sale and various contests starting Sunday at the fairgrounds with a Singing Program at 7:00 p.m.

Blood Drive Scheduled Saturday in Lordsburg

United Blood Services will hold a blood drive on Saturday August 3 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Commissioners meeting room at the County Courthouse to support Joni Umphres. The program supplies blood to University of Arizona Hospital in Tucson and other regional hospitals. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Company Receives First State Funds for Lordsburg Project

Victoria Homes secured its first state funds of 140000 for the Lordsburg project, after using private lender money while awaiting state approval. A second draw of 56900 has been requested, with spot checks planned to ensure state and local spending ratios. Total state funds total 500000, about 276000 expected to be accounted for by factory opening, now targeted for October.

Little League to Officially Close Saturday

Closing ceremonies for Little League will be held Saturday August 3 at the Little League Field. Coaches players parents sponsors and fans are urged to attend. The ceremonies get underway at 11 00 a m.
