Victoria Homes secured its first state funds of 140000 for the Lordsburg project, after using private lender money while awaiting state approval. A second draw of 56900 has been requested, with spot checks planned to ensure state and local spending ratios. Total state funds total 500000, about 276000 expected to be accounted for by factory opening, now targeted for October.
The Hidalgo Humane Society sponsors a Summer Rabies Clinic at Lordsburg Fire Station on Main Street. Saturday August 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Dr. Hopson oversees the clinic offering shots and medical attention for pets. Mark the date on your calendar.
City Hall sources say Bryan Cody of Cody Drilling is released from drilling a well south of town after failing to progress beyond six feet and equipment issues. No payment was made. Larson of Las Cruces, with a $59,235 bid, takes over, about $13,598 more than Cody. Larson plans to start within a week with a rotary rig.
The St Josephs Bazaar starts August 17 at North Park, ending August 18 with a tardeada. Events include barbecue, games, bingo, Mexican food, and a talent show for ages 5 and up. Closing ceremonies for Little League will be held Saturday August 3 at the Little League Field. Coaches players parents sponsors and fans are urged to attend. The ceremonies get underway at 11 00 a m.
