Red Cross launches a home nursing training course in Lordsburg Hidalgo County. The first county class began July 14, 1962 with six participants from St Joseph Church Ladies Altar Society. Instructor Mrs Bully Miller led sessions in the Lordsburg High School home economics room.

City to Begin Pest Control Spraying This Week

The city will spray for pests starting Tuesday evening about 8. Cars should be off streets during spraying to maximize effectiveness per Mr. Cars. On Monday crews will spray garbage cans and trash containers in the alleys to prepare for the operation.

Greyhound Bus Overturns On Highway Near City

A Greyhound bus driven by Cecil Worth overturned on a curve on Highway 70 80, about three miles east of Lordeburg Sunday near 10 PM. The vehicle left the pavement after hitting a dirt ridge and piled 27 passengers to one side. Twenty six passengers were taken to Tucson for treatment and checks.

Columbus Co Op receives FCC approval to install a two way radio system. Construction of a cement block transmitter house atop Tres Hermanas Mountains five miles north of Columbus will start immediately. System cost about 15000 dollars. savings in two years expected to cover the expense. All CO OP vehicles will have radios linking to the main office at all times.
