The Band 3 unit plans a resumed meeting in August with all members expected to attend. Preparations include a French horn a bark horn and bassoon overhaul and repair and the purchase of new uniforms for members.

A change in ownership at Allen's Grocery on South Main Street places Dale, son of the Allert family, over half the store's interest this week. No change in management or business methods is expected. customers will still be served as before. Local officials indicate the move should benefit the business and the public.

Robertson Named Manager of Burg Airport in Mn

Robertson, former IaHon 1 resident, takes charge of the Lordsburg airport in Oklahoma. Mrs. Robertson, a CAA flight instructor and former editor at Higgins Texas News, survived four tornadoes and a husband’s death, while raising two children, John and Coleen. They currently live in the administration building as opening of the school year looms with August 28 events and August 31 starts.

Lordsburg High Plans 1953 Football Schedule

The Lordsburg High School football schedule for 1953 features eight regular games starting September 18 at Alamogordo and ending November 13 at home against Duncan. Four games are away and four are home as new conferences and playoffs reshape the season structure with AA, A and C classifications based on daily attendance.

City Dosed With Insecticide Spray in Overnight Operation

Lordsburg residents awoke to a new aroma as streets and alleys were sprayed for flies and mosquitoes between midnight and 7 30 am Tuesday. The operation was led by Virgil Craddock and conducted by two Tucson companies.

The Lordsburg Golf Club hosts an 18 hole medal play city tournament this Sunday August 16. Each player will have a cap ensuring equal footing with prizes awarded to winners.

Week's Softball Games Postponed By Tournament

Only four local softball games were played since our last summers as many players were abroad at a Bayard tournament. On July 29 CPS edged National Guard 8 to 7 after CPS started with no hits in two innings and the Guards built a 6 to 2 lead before CPS rallied for a late surge.

Houses And Apartments Needed For Teachers

During the next three weeks teachers will seek living quarters for the school year. Anyone with furnished or unfurnished houses or apartments to rent should list them with Mr Freeburg, telephone 32, to aid the teachers. The move aims to ensure teachers feel welcomed and settled, improving morale and performance.

Hidalgo County Fair Board awarded the contract for a 32 by 100 foot steel exhibit building with concrete floor and rest rooms to Ed win Brown of Lordsburg for 9647.90. Work started with completion by September 1. State purchase of 15000 bond at 2 percent assured. New wash rack stalls display space and repairs planned. funds from bond sale to cover costs.

Spanish All Stars Beat Anglo Team In Benefit Game

The Anglo All Stars lost 11 to 5 to a Spanish All Stars squad in a benefit softball game for Joe Bustillos. Spanish scored seven runs in the first inning on seven hits and four Anglo errors, then Alvarez held the Anglos to seven hits and five runs.
