Water Main Contract Awarded to King Hoover of Phoenix
Bids opened for a new water main connection to the existing system. King Hoover Company of Phoenix won at 69 893.84 dollars, lowest of six, with others including P. R. Burn Las Cruces Pecos Valley Construction Allan Koff Southwest Construction Bayard New Mexico. A separate contract for a 300 000 gallon tank was awarded to Consolidated Western Steel Co. El Paso Man Loses Eye In Auto Wreck
A serious crash 14 miles west of Lordsburg involved El Paso resident Gillespie Lawson 66 driving a Chrysler rear ending Buster McCant’s pickup from Animas. Lawson injured with eye damage and facial fractures. McCant uninjured but vehicle damaged. police say Lawson likely fell asleep.

Outdoor Band Concert Saturday At Courthouse

City installs parking meters and trash cans on Railroad Ave
City officials recently installed new parking meters from M. H. R. Corp on Railroad Ave and added trash cans to improve cleanliness. The meters, active since Saturday July 30, accept pennies or nickels and grant 12 minutes to two hours of parking based on deposit. No parking zones near hotels and other areas will be marked as bases are prepared for no parking signs.

Fire destroys 1923 Chevrolet near Wellman home
A 1923 Chevrolet sedan owned by Hubert Wellman was burned Tuesday evening near Glenn Dorsett's home. Wellman is in service on the west coast. The interior burned before discovery as fire spread to the eaves. neighbors used a garden hose until the fire department arrived and control was established. Authorities suspect youngsters smoking in the car caused the blaze.
