State Highway Patrol urges motorists to stop for stopped school buses and not pass until signaled. The act imposes misdemeanor penalties with fines from ten to fifty dollars and possible county jail time up to thirty days.
In the first game Bann Mir fell 5-1 as the league standings shifted with a lone run by Bowman despite nine hits. The Plumbers won the second game 10-9 taking advantage of wild pitching and defensive errors to score nine runs in the first inning.
Citizens in Lordsburg saw measurable rainfall over Sunday and Monday totaling .26 inches and .47 inches respectively. Local ranch land benefits from the rain, with old timers noting it may be the heaviest two day rainfall in many years.
The Church of Christ will conduct gospel meetings from August 12 to August 28 with Rev. S O Redacre of Phoenix Arizona delivering messages and Roy Smith of Venice California singing. Meetings start at 8 00 each evening and all are invited.
Miss Idelia Humphrey of Hughes Springs Texas becomes secretary at Lordsburg High School. She is a Hughes Springs High School graduate and daughter of Mr and Mrs R F Humphrey of Hughes Springs. She currently lives with her brother and his wife on the Duncan Highway.
Mr and Mrs Franklin Fields and their son Clifford of Albuquerque New Mexico visit Mr and Mrs Victor Reay and family this week Mrs Fields is a sister to Mr Reay.
Santa Rita edged Lordsburg 5-4 in eight innings at Hurley in the District Softball Tournament. J Rodriguez homered in the eighth, Varela singled for Lordsburg but Powell's attempt ended on a fielder's choice. Dunkerson hit a Lordsburg homer in the fifth as both teams reached 4-4 after seven.
The Lordsburg Moctezumas visit the Santa Rita Rattlers at Lordsburg ball park Sunday at 2 30 pm for a local baseball game. Fans are urged to attend and cheer the home team.
The Liberal issues from August 5 acknowledges an error in an article which misnamed band leader Harold Wells instead of Roger Wells. The paper apologizes for past mistakes and asks readers to report corrections for prompt fixes.
Rev. E. L. Anson from Portales New Mexico becomes the Church of Christ minister in Lordsburg after forty years there. Also announced is the Cloverdale Picnic in Cloverdale New Mexico on Saturday August 13 featuring a barbecue dinner at noon.
Painting and refinishing nearly complete as Lordsburg schools prepare for September 6. Custodians Arnold Ward Raymond Sanches and John Newsom led summer renovations including redecorating floors walls and hallways and upgrading desks and cafeteria areas.
All Rainbow Girls are urged to attend their regular meeting Tuesday night August 16 at the Masonic Hall.
Teachers recount 1878 origins of the Primary in Farmington Utah and the 11 August 1878 first organization. The Lordsburg group notes 150000 children touched by the birthday, 45 enrolled pupils study South Seas Indians, make moccasins and dolls, with weekly lessons and charity efforts.
In the first night of round two the Banner Mine beat the Plumbers 7 to 5 as four Plumber errors in the third allowed three unearned runs for the Miners. CPS defeated Moctezuma 17 to 6 after a late rally. Barcia doubled, Ewan singled, Martinez walked, and Renteria drove in the winning runs.
