PTA Unit Officers Elected and State Convention Plans
The PTA named officers for each unit at a Monday meeting led by guest speaker P. Byrne. Delegates to the State PTA convention in Santa Fe were chosen, with plans to attend April 24 to 26. The group approved funding for a school building picture and Cub Scout sponsorship, and set May 4 for the high school dedication. Lawrance third grade won the most parents present. Russell first grade second.

The Land of Hay Minstrel Show will be staged at the high school auditorium on Friday and Saturday evenings April 25 and 26 at 6 00 p m with W Clark King as interlocutor and 21 black performers led by end men C R Simpkendy Fallat Chip Pierce Ira Miller EB M Fisher Jr Bill Inj e Claude Speer and Paul Himeyweeva The ensemble includes the Cotton Pickers singers Mammy songs by Thelma Ross and others plus a 21 member chorus and a 5 piece orchestra The program also features a 19 member choir and a large list of named participants with a note continuing on page 8

Red Cross Campaign Seeks Hidalgo County Funds
The Hidalgo County Red Cross requests donations for its 1952 campaign toward a revised goal of 1978 dollars due to Missouri river floods and Arkansas tornadoes. Chairman C. Hollemon asks contributions, noting some residents have not yet been contacted and urging those who can to mail gifts to the Lordsburg chapter.

Dedication of Lew High School Scheduled for May 4
The Lew High School building was inspected Monday and deemed acceptable with only minor changes needed in the next few days. Dedicatory exercises are planned for Sunday afternoon May 4 at 2 30 with public inspection all afternoon. The Liberal will publish the program next week.

Children Clothing Crusade at Lordsburg Schools
Lordsburg Elementary Schools will join the state wide Save The Children Bundle Week from April 28 to May 3 to collect usable clothing. Superintendent Wesley Freeburg announced the five day drive under the Eleventh National Children's Clothing Crusade led by a national committee of school superintendents. The drive aims for a 4 000 pound goal, with clothing distributed by Save The Children Federation to aid children in isolated areas including the United States, Indian Reserve Southwestern regions, Western Europe, the Far East, and Lebanon.

Hidalgo TB group reports state board appointment
Mrs Earle Kerr, Hidalgo county unit secretary treasurer of the New Mexico Tuberculosis Association, attended the April 5 directors meeting in Santa Fe. Mrs Homer Rountree was named to the state board for a three year term. Kerr notes TB deaths drop from 30 percent in 1929 to 4 percent in 1951 and mentions free x-ray services for the needy.
